Former WRC director named to head Centre on Philanthropy

Elaine Williams will become the new executive director of the Centre on Philanthropy from April 1.Ms Williams, who is currently executive director at the Women’s Resource Centre, replaces Pamela Barit Nolan, who had been in the role for eight years.Centre on Philanthropy Chairman Brian Madeiros said: “We are extremely pleased that Elaine will assume this very important leadership role for The Centre and for Bermuda’s third sector.“Elaine is presently the executive director of the Women’s Resource Centre and her significant managerial experience and knowledge of both the private and non-profit sectors make her a considerable asset to our team.”He said the appointment coincides with the launch of The Centre’s new four-year strategic plan.Ms Williams said: “I am honoured and excited to be chosen as the new executive director of The Centre on Philanthropy.“I look forward to working with our very able board and staff to implement the new strategic plan. Our role as a resource and advocate for the charitable sector is particularly important in tough economic times.“We will continue to do all we can to make sure Bermuda’s charities are equipped with everything they need to support our community.”She has served in various positions during her professional career including as a police officer, and working for the Bermuda Hospitals Board and Chamber of Commerce.She has also served on several boards including the Bermuda Family Council, The Centre on Philanthropy, The Bermuda Women’s Council and the Cummings Zuill Scholarship Award.The WRC will now commence the search for a new executive director.
