BOA and The Royal Gazette team up for Olympic quiz
An Olympic quiz crossing local sports, sports news and last year’s London Games is coming to put Bermuda to the test.Hint: Some of the answers are to be found in coming sports pages of The Royal Gazette.Following the success of last year’s Olympic Quiz, the Bermuda Olympic Association has decided to up the ante.It’s holding this year’s event in partnership with The Royal Gazette, and is throwing it open to schools and the community in a bid to support local athletes.The 2013 Sport Quiz Contest will also raise awareness of the Island’s sporting achievements down the years.Challenges of trivia, history and sports arcana will be drawn from:- The history of Bermuda sport.- The 2012 London Olympic Games.- Bermuda sports in the international arena.- Sports current affairs — courtesy of The Royal Gazette.Contestants will have to keep up with our local and international sports stories for a chance at victory starting later this month and running until the quiz in June.This year’s contest features two semi-finals on June 25 and 27 — with the big final to be held between four teams on Saturday, June 29.All the facts used for the ongoing Olympic Quiz will go toward building a sports library dedicated to the Island’s athletes and sporting history.It’s a chance to celebrate the stories of the Island’s rich sporting past and present.The quiz will also help support athletes training for the four big BOA-linked festivals of the Central American and Caribbean, Commonwealth, Pan American and Olympic Games.For more on the 2013 Quiz and what’s offered, keep reading The Royal Gazette.
