Seniors to model summer wear
Residents and staff at the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility will host a pre-Cup Match fashion show and tea to heighten public awareness on the services they offer for seniors. The show, which will be held outside on the facility’s grounds on Old Military Road in St George’s, will feature creative wardrobes designed especially for the Cup Match holiday.Recreation therapist Anternette Burgess-Lewis said: “We have about 25 seniors, men and women, who will be modelling their own wardrobe.“Some of them will show off their own creations, in three categories, summer time casual wear, Cup Match casuals, evening wear and Sunday best fashions.”Rehearsals for the upcoming event start this weekend.Ms Burgess-Lewis noted that the administrative team decided to have this event to promote public awareness of the facility and “have a bit of fun at the same time”.The seniors home is headed up by administrator Angela Brangman. There are currently 40 residents at the facility which offers day care services and round-the-clock medical healthcare services for in-house residents. The event, which is free, will be held on July 30 from 2.30pm to 4pm.Ms Burgess-Lewis said: “This is the first time we’ve done this leading up to Cup Match, and we’re hoping people will come out, sit back and enjoy the show put on by our seniors.”
