Bermuda Police Service takes home gold at Belfast

A team of Bermuda Police Service cyclists has won a series of medals at the 2013 World Police and Fire Games in Belfast, Northern Ireland.PC Shannon Lawrence won three medals, including a gold medal in the criterium, a silver medal in the time trial, and a bronze medal in the hill climb.Sergeant Darren Glasford and PC Dennis Joell also travelled to the podium, winning a silver medal in the criterium and a bronze medal in the 200-metre race respectively.The police cycling team, which also included Sergeant Clifford Roberts and Sergeant Terry Thomas, also competed in an 18-mile loop race, with PC Lawrence coming fifth and Sgt Glasford coming 11th in their respective age groups.PC Joel, Sgt Roberts and Sgt Thomas placed 14th, 20th and 25th in their respective age groups.A Police spokesman said: “The Bermuda Police Service team competed in a variety of sports and the athletes were well received by all participating countries.“A full list of results from the Bermuda Police Service team will be available following their return home next week.”
