Teens arrested over bus row

Two teens were arrested after a group of boys pelted a bus with eggs shortly before rush hour yesterday in Hamilton, briefly disrupting traffic in the city centre.Bus drivers intervened, and police also responded swiftly, descending on the junction of Church Street and Burnaby Street at about 4.45pm.An eyewitness said: “Three boys were throwing stuff at a bus coming down Cedar Avenue. It caused a backlog of traffic, because the bus driver actually got out and tackled the boys. He got it under control until the police arrived — they got here in record time.”A police spokesman said a foot patrol had responded.“Apparently two bus operators subsequently approached the suspects, two 15-year-old males, who resisted.“However, both suspects were quickly taken into custody by the responding officers. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.”
