Air Canada to increase its Toronto flights

Air Canada is increasing the number of flights from Toronto direct to Bermuda from next week.

The airline scaled back its service to the Island earlier this year, reducing flights out of Pearson Airport from five times a week to just three. At the time an Air Canada spokesman said the cutback was “in response to the route performance and expected future demand”.

But this morning Ministry of Transport officials confirmed that the weekly schedule will be expanded back up to five flights a week. Flights will be running on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until mid-January.

Tourism and Transport Minister Shawn Crockwell welcomed the news, claiming it will make Bermuda “a more convenient option” for travellers out of Canada.

“The Toronto area represents a key gateway city for Bermuda and we are grateful that it will be even easier for visitors to travel here for a quick getaway,” he said.
