Walking tour of listed buildings planned

City of Hamilton Waterfront.

The Department of Planning has organised a walking tour of eight proposed listed buildings next week.

The walk starts at 12.30pm from City Hall lobby on Friday, November 8, and will take in Sessions House, the Cabinet Office, the former Magistrates’ Court, the Old Town Hall, City Hall, Perot’s Post Office, Par-La-Ville and the Victoria Bandstand.

The eight buildings are proposed to be the first to be listed in the City of Hamilton since the Anglican Cathedral, in 1983.

Planners were at Washington Mall yesterday, with a display about the new City of Hamilton Plan. They are currently reviewing the old city plan and getting input from the public on what to put into the new plan.

Their display will be at City Hall lobby all next week, when feedback is sought.
