Hospitality Institute offers certification courses to 12 students

Twelve high school students will get a shot at an internationally recognised hospitality certification, free of charge, when the Bermuda Hospitality Institute’s START programme commences in January.

The 16-week course, open to student aged 16 to 18 years, requires self-starters willing to work after school and on weekends.

Successful completion means a guaranteed summer job in Bermuda’s hospitality industry for the duration of school or college.

BHI CEO Karla Lacy said the programme has trained 41 students over the last three years.

“Each summer these students are employed in all sectors of the hospitality industry, from the hotels and restaurants, to travel agencies, tour companies and more.”

Deadline applications are December 9. The course itself runs from January 14 through April 26.
