‘Career criminal’ sold stolen gold chain

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner

A 60 year old ‘career criminal’ admitted selling a stolen 14 carat gold chain worth $700.

Steven Pitt, of Devonshire, was fined $2700 by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner in Magistrates’ Court today.

The gold chain was initially stolen by two unidentified men on a motorcycle, who snatched it off Princely Charles Masters as he was cleaning his driveway in Happy Valley, Pembroke, said Crown Counsel Loxly Ricketts.

Officers identified Pitt after discovering he had sold the chain to Bermuda Gold Exchange on September 18 last year.

Pitt openly admitted to officers in a subsequent interview that he was given the chain to sell.

“As you can see, he has an extensive 40-year criminal history. He’s a jack of all trades,” said prosecutor Susan Mulligan.
