A 42-year-old Devonshire man has been arrested after attempting to steal a customer’s wallet in the MarketPlace supermarket on Church Street on Monday.

The man, who was chased by staff and eventually found by police and arrested, had tried to snatch the woman’s wallet from her grocery cart.

The suspect remains in police custody and a court appearance is anticipated in due course.
