Late night free taxi service is backed by Burrows Lightbourn

Liquor merchants Burrows Lightbourn has backed a night out free taxi service to the tune of $10,000.

The firm forked out the cash to help fund the anti-drink and drugs charity CADA’s ‘don’t drink and drive Friday night taxi service’ for the sixth year running.

CADA spokesman Anthony Santucci said the organisation was grateful for the continued support.

The service, which operates from outside the LOM building on Hamilton’s Reid St, has to date taken home more that 10,420 people.

Mr Santucci added: “With their ongoing support, Burrows Lightbourn ensures that people who have been out drinking late on a Friday night have a free, safe and reliable alternative to drinking and driving.”

Burrows Lightbourn chief operating officer Derek Emery said: “Part of the responsible marketing of our brands is to ensure that people enjoying our products are provided with safe transportation to their destination.”

He added: “We also thank the taxi drivers who show up each Friday night to take patrons home. We know lives are being saved.”

The free service is available between 3.15am and 3.45am every Friday.
