Burglars hit nine homes in last day

Nine burglaries were reported for the Island’s central parishes in just 24 hours, police announced yesterday — six of which took place in Paget.

Homes in Pembroke, Devonshire and Warwick were also targeted.

The break-ins occurred on Highwood Lane (Paget), Manor Hill (Paget), Mission Lane (Paget), South Road (Paget — two), Stowe Hill (Paget), Marsh Folly Road (Pembroke), Tee Street (Devonshire) and Allspice Gardens (Warwick).

Police have reiterated their warning to residents who should report any suspicious activities spotted in their neighbourhoods by calling the main police number, 295-0011.

Residents are advised to make sure their properties are secure before leaving — securing air conditioning units — and consider placing valuables in a safe or safety deposit box.

They are also urged to take pictures of all their valuables and record serial numbers of any electronic goods in their home.

In the event that such personal property is stolen and later recovered, these items can be more easily identified, a police spokesman said.
