Man pleads not guilty to murder charge
A man charged with the premeditated murder of Jason Lightbourne has denied the offence in Supreme Court.
Prince Barrington Edness, 28, from Pembroke, was charged in January with the 2006 murder of Mr Lightbourne, who was shot dead behind the wheel of a parked car on Ord Road in Paget.
Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves set a fixed trial date of September 8, ordering that Mr Edness be remanded in custody.
The matter was one of several to appear before the court this morning during a crowded arraignments session.
A 34-year-old Pembroke man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, denied a series of sexual exploitation charge`s against a young person.
The defendant was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation, all of which allegedly took place between September 2011 and September 2013, and one count of intruding on the privacy of a female. He was released on bail and given a trial date in June.
Maxwell Smith, 41, denied a charge of causing grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill a woman and her children in an incident on November 23, 2013.
And two people denied charges in connection to traffic collisions.
Tymothy Scraders, 25, denied two counts of causing injury by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of a collision, while in a separate incident John Wardman, 29, denied causing grievous bodily harm by driving over the legal blood-alcohol limit and “failing to provide the necessaries of life”.
Both men were released on bail and given trial dates in May and June respectively.
