Government House gardens open to the public

Government House

The gardens of Government House will be open to the public on Sunday afternoons, starting this Sunday and continuing until Labour Day.

The gardens will open from 12pm to 5pm, via the North Gate on North Shore Road. Visitors are encouraged to walk, bike or use the bus, as parking is not allowed on the grounds.

Governor George Fergusson said he was “looking forward to seeing families — particularly those living near Government House — make use of this wonderful area, and have a chance to enjoy the views, the historic trees, see the bluebirds and generally have fun”.

Visitors are invited to enjoy the space but to leave dogs at home, refrain from playing amplified music, and to respect the gardens — especially the areas run by students from Victor Scott, West Pembroke and Northlands primary schools.

The gardens will not be open over the Cup Match weekend.
