Woman fined for misleading Police

A Pembroke woman was fined $300 in Magistrates’ Court this morning after giving incorrect information when she was pulled over by Police while driving in Smith’s parish on March 7.

Jakeisha Stevens, 33, of Curving Avenue, was charged with obstruction of justice and making a statement which was either incorrect or misleading. She had initially pleaded not guilty before changing her plea.

Prosecutor Loxly Ricketts told the court Stevens had been stopped Police for a defaced licence plate number.

She then gave her name as Donita Stevens along with other information that was later found to be incorrect. The name Donita was that of her sister.

Stevens said that she panicked after being pulled over.

Magistrate Archibald Warner dismissed the obstruction charge but Stevens was fined $300 for giving incorrect or misleading information.
