OBA youth wing to host fireside meetings with party leaders
Young Bermudians are being encouraged to voice their concerns about the Island’s future at a meet-and-greet with MPs.
The “fireside” gathering will feature a bonfire at Fort St Catherine beach and is being held by the Future Bermuda Alliance, the youth wing of the One Bermuda Alliance.
Party members expected to attend include Senator Alexis Swan, deputy chair of the FBA; Kenny Bascome, MP for St George’s North; Suzann Roberts-Holshouser, Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and MP for St George’s South; and Nandi Outerbridge, FBA chair and MP for St George’s West.
According to the FBA, the event is designed to encourage open, relaxed dialogue with MPs, who hope to inform young people about what the OBA is doing for them.
Attendees are encouraged to voice any concerns and provide feedback.
An FBA spokesperson said: “The Future Bermuda Alliance are going to be hosting a series of firesides Island-wide.
“The reason we host these is to gather feedback from the younger generation on what matters most right now and in their future for our Island.
“We held a successful fireside on July 10 at Premier Michael Dunkley’s home. The data gathered was interesting — we are currently working on some items mentioned, like domestic violence and sex offenders legislation.”
The bonfire will be on Friday, July 25, from 6.30pm. For more information visit futurebda@gmail.com or call 294-3202.
