A 19 year-old Devonshire man appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Calin Maybury, of Devon Springs Road, was charged with causing the death of Melvin Smith by driving without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons on the road.

He was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Dawn Santucci-Smith.

The offences occurred on August 2 on Kindley Field Road in St George’s.

As they are indictable offences, the defendant was not required to enter a plea.

The case was adjourned to August 20, and the defendant was released on $10,000 bail with one surety.
