A single case of “skimming” debit card details from an HSBC bank cash machine is being looked into by police.
A police spokesman said one ATM had been affected by the illegal device, which fraudsters conceal in the machines in an attempt to steal customers’ card details.
“We are advising the public to be vigilant of anyone or anything that may be out of place or unusual at an ATM,” the spokesman added.
“If in doubt, do not use that ATM, and report your concerns to the police and to the bank in question.”
HSBC has also advised customers to contact the bank if they notice any questionable transactions.
