BPSU announces emergency meeting

The Bermuda Public Services Union has called an Emergency General Membership Meeting to vote on making the office of president a full-time paid position.

BPSU General Secretary Ed Ball said the general counsel had decided last night to call the meeting.

He said: “It’s a vote on the office of president becoming a full time and paid position.”

However, Mr Ball said he was unable to give any further details about the vote.

The current president of the BPSU is Jason Hayward, who took over from former president Kevin Grant last March.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday at the Heritage Worship Centre on Dundonald Street, starting at 5.30pm. All members of the union have been ordered to attend.
