Pair deny cannabis possession

A Pembroke man and woman accused of possessing drugs with a street value of more than $25,000 were granted bail in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Latoya Brown-Hayward, 32, and Sabian Hayward, 31, pleaded not guilty to having 138.85 grams of cannabis resin, worth $13,900, and 36.28g of cocaine, worth $11,350 — both with intent to supply — in Pembroke on August 27.

They also denied having digital scales intended for the misuse of a controlled drug.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set bail at $15,000 with a like surety.

The matter was adjourned until March 25 for mention.
