Bus crash driver arrested and bailed

A scene from last week's crash

The driver of the bus that crashed into a series of parked cars last week has been arrested and released on Police bail.

Bermuda Police Service said that contrary to some media reports, the driver had not been charged with any offences at this stage and that a court appearance was not imminent.

Inquiries into the matter continue, a Police spokesman said this evening.

The crash occurred shortly before noon last Wednesday, with the bus colliding with several parked vehicles and a utility pole on East Broadway before coming to a stop near Great Things.

Eight people, including children, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital as a result of the collision.
