Driver escapes car fire without injuries

A driver of a car that caught fire in Paget this afternoon has escaped without injuries.

At about 12:21pm, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a car on fire at Mission Crescent.

“The vehicle was reported to be engulfed in flames producing heavy black smoke,” Fire Service spokeswoman Russann Francis said.

The Fire Service responded to the incident with a team of four firefighters who rapidly extinguished the fire.

“The driver of the vehicle was driving and suddenly noticed fire inside the passenger compartment,” a BFRS statement said.

“The driver immediately stopped and made their escape from the navy Hyundai.”

On arrival, the Fire Service found the interior of the vehicle on fire.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
