Relay for Life: time to celebrate, remember

Promotional tour: PwC Bermuda’s Sakina Darrell, left, and Sheena Young on the Relay for Life’s Purple Couch during its recent promotional tour around Hamilton

Participants in the Relay for Life are encouraged to stop by the event’s official Luminaria Tent this year to dedicate luminaria to loved ones whom they have lost to cancer or to those whose fight continues.

As the event’s Luminaria sales and display hosts and sponsor, PwC Bermuda will have a large selection of arts and crafts supplies on hand for participants to create and personalise their luminaria bags. Paper, lighted luminaria bags will be available to purchase at the tent for a donation.

Dozens of PwC volunteers will assist the event’s organisers in placing hundreds of luminaries around the track at the National Stadium in what promises to be a beautiful and inspiring evening display and ceremony. The bags will stay in place on the track until dawn.

The global Relay For Life, which has become the largest fundraising event for cancer in the world, takes place in Bermuda on May 29 and 30.

“This year we have more than 80 volunteers from PwC Bermuda taking part in the second annual Relay for Life,” Scott Watson-Brown, the managing director of PwC Bermuda, said.

“They’ve signed up as relay team members and/or they’re volunteering to help manage the Luminaria tent and display,.

“I am grateful to see such enthusiasm among our employees for this important global event. PwC is proud to be part of it, helping to raise funds to support the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s radiation therapy initiative.”
