Man denies gun, drugs charges

A Filipino national has denied charges of importing a firearm, ammunition and cannabis.

Romonito Adlawan, 36, pleaded not guilty in Supreme Court this morning to importing the illegal items on May 5, along with possessing the items on the same date. He further denied a charge of possessing $5,000 in cash, knowing it to be in whole or in part the proceeds of criminal activity.

The courts previously heard that Mr Adlawan had been employed on the cargo ship Somers Isles.

Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons adjourned the matter until June 16, when Mr Adlawan is expected to return to the court for the matter to be mentioned. He was remanded into custody until them.
