Armed police descended on St Monica’s Road, Pembroke, tonight after gunshots were fired.

Police, who blocked off the entrance to the road, responded at 10.19pm, with forensics confirming that a firearm had been discharged. No one was hurt.

A Police spokesman said they believe someone drove through what is more commonly known as “42nd Street” on a bike accompanied by a pillion passenger and that they fired shots.

The pair are both thought to be black males of about 6ft tall and were driving a dark-coloured bike. The pillion passenger was wearing a camouflage jacket.

Police, who subsequently conducted house-to-house inquiries, are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area or who can help with inquiries to call 295-0011.
