Volunteers take part in giving day

Marsh and Guy Carpenter volunteers at Meals on Wheels

Marsh and Guy Carpenter employees are volunteering their time with Meals on Wheels and Outward Bound as part of the companies’ annual Community Giving Day.

Volunteers at Meals on Wheels are helping with meal preparation and delivery, dish washing, fridge and kitchen cleaning as well as painting the outside of the building.

Alongside Marsh and Guy Carpenter employees, JT Maintenance & Painting, owned and operated by father and son, Tony and Jody Carreiro, have volunteered their time and skill to paint the roof at Meals on Wheels.

Volunteers with Outward Bound are cleaning Paget Island and Fort Cunningham, trimming the abundance of Mexican pepper plants and painting the Outward Bound buildings.

Jill Husbands, country corporate officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, said in a statement: “We are dedicated to giving back to the community in which we live. We do this by offering donations and for the sixth year in a row, by volunteering our time through Community Giving Day.

“It is our pleasure to volunteer with Meals on Wheels and Outward Bound to support the important work they do.”

Mark Norman, Outward Bound Bermuda coordinator, stated: “We are so grateful to Marsh and Guy Carpenter for their help in cleaning and upgrading our facilities on Paget Island.

“Outward Bound participants benefit from team-building and nature-focused programmes that take place on the Island. It is important that the land is free from debris and safe for the attendees.”

Joe Gibbons, president of Meals on Wheels, stated: “Thank you to the Marsh and Guy Carpenter volunteers who are taking time out of their busy schedules to volunteer at Meals on Wheels. Our organisation runs on the generosity of volunteers.”
