Christmas Day in Bermuda brought not one but two little miracles, with the arrival of twins Royce Anthony Lee and Jordan Love Lee.

The siblings were delivered via emergency Caesarean section at 5.39pm and 5.41pm respectively to salon owner Tiffani Donita Matthie and her partner, Robert Anthony Lee III, a truck driver and event co-ordinator.

“The twins weren’t due until early January, so it was a bit of a shock,” Ms Matthie told The Royal Gazette from her bed at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

“But Robert had a feeling, I guess you could call it a father’s instinct.”

Ms Matthie discovered that she was having twins in May, one month after being mistakenly informed that she had miscarried.

“My family is jam-packed with twins,” she said.

“I have twin brothers, and my nana has a twin brother, too. It was bound to happen to one of us, I just thought it would be my sister.”

Ms Matthie, from Devonshire, who also has a six-year-old daughter, Leila, is hoping to leave hospital today, saying: “I’m ready to go home.

“I haven’t slept — I think the adrenalin has got me, I’m too excited.”

First-time father Mr Lee, also from Devonshire, added: “This is the best day of my life. I’m a little nervous but I’m ready.”
