Sasha Howland gave up ten inches of hair for a good cause yesterday.

The ten-year-old student at Bermuda High School said that rather than let the hair go to waste, she would donate it to Locks of Love, an international non-profit that uses donated hair to provide wigs to young cancer patients.

“I wanted it to go someplace where it would actually be useful,” Sasha said. “I heard about Locks of Love from a friend and thought it would be good.”

Sasha’s mother, Kelly Howland, said she was proud of her daughter’s decision, adding: “She has a great heart. We know a lot of people who have suffered from cancer, so we thought if she could do something to help someone else and get a haircut, it’s a win-win.”
