Three people were left trapped after a van crashed into a pillar this afternoon.

The accident took place outside the First Baptist Church on Middle Road, Devonshire, near to the junction of Marsh Lane, shortly after 2.15pm.

The victims were extracted from the vehicle by emergency services, with traffic being diverted away from the scene.

They were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

Bermuda Police Service spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “At 2.16pm police and first responders attended a road traffic crash that took place on Middle Road, Devonshire, just across from the Ornamental Iron Works.”

Mr Caines said that the van driver lost control of the vehicle before crashing into the pillar.

An off-duty fire officer, who happened to be driving nearby, helped with the recovery operation.

Witnesses are urged to call police on 295-0011.
