Marsh and Guy Carpenter has announced a $1,500 donation to both Pathways and Outward Bound Bermuda.

Pathways Bermuda is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing quality treatment services to individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by drug and alcohol addiction. Pathways offers one-on-one outpatient counselling and aftercare.

According to a press release, through its partnership with Caron Treatment Centres in the United States, it facilitates access and scholarship funding to individuals in need of further care at the residential facilities based in Pennsylvania and Florida. The Marsh and Guy Carpenter donation was used to help further develop adolescent and family programming and the Pathways Bermuda Scholarship Fund.

Gita Blakeney-Saltus, executive director of Pathways Bermuda, stated: “On behalf of those who will benefit from Marsh and Guy Carpenter’s heartfelt support, I thank the companies for giving the gift of recovery.

“Marsh and Guy Carpenter’s ongoing support of Pathways helps us to change and save lives, lives that may otherwise be lost to the disease of addiction.”

Outward Bound Bermuda is a registered charity that provides outdoor education and activities for people of all ages. Based on Paget Island in St George’s Harbour, its mission is to help people discover and develop their potential to care for themselves, others and the world at large through challenging experiences in unfamiliar settings.

The Marsh and Guy Carpenter donation is being used to purchase tools that are needed for maintenance of the land, including a lawnmower, pole saw and strimmer.

Mark Norman, Outward Bound Bermuda coordinator, stated: “Thank you to Marsh and Guy Carpenter for their support of Outward Bound Bermuda and aiding us in purchasing the tools we need to keep our land clear and ready for use.

“As an outdoor organisation, maintenance is an important, ongoing process that ensures our services are safe and productive for all our participants.”

Jill Husbands, country corporate officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Bermuda and chairman of MMC’s Bermuda Corporate Social Responsibility Committee, stated: “Our Corporate Social Responsibility Committee works hard to select local organisations to donate to throughout the year.

Pathways and Outward Bound Bermuda are two such organisations that we are honoured to support again this year and we wish them well in their worthy endeavours.”
