The Warwick-based charity WindReach has received a $10,000 windfall as part of the Bermuda Government’s Cash Back for Communities initiative.

The charity, which offers therapeutic and educational experiences for people with physical and intellectual challenges as well as those living with mental health conditions, is the latest organisation to benefit from the scheme.

Senator Jeff Baron, the Minister of National Security, presented the cheque to WindReach representatives on Friday.

“I had the privilege of spending some time at WindReach recently to see the critical and specialised services they provide for some very incredible young people in our community,” Mr Baron said.

“The management and volunteers at WindReach do such exceptional and meaningful work, and their dedication and enthusiasm was heart warming to see.

“So, it was gratifying to provide them with a donation to go towards helping them continue their important services.

“I want to stress that WindReach welcomes volunteers, and I want to encourage our community to support their efforts through the donation of their time.”

The Cash Back for Communities initiative was made possible by the passage of the Proceeds of Crime Amendment Act, which came into effect in September 2015.

To date more than $600,000 has been distributed in support of community organisations and programmes through the programme.
