For the tenth year, Regina Peniston is planning to give back this holiday season.

In what has become a holiday tradition, Mrs Peniston will be offering a free Christmas dinner on Boxing Day for those less fortunate, outside of Jamaican Grill on Court Street.

“I remember what it was like not having a Christmas meal on Christmas,” she said. “My heart has always been open towards homeless people and the needy and I felt that I needed to help. Even if I don’t have a whole lot, what I do have I need to share.

“It’s great. It overwhelms me every year. I just feel so grateful that I am able to give back.”

Mrs Peniston said the event had only grown over the years, although she said she felt she could always do more.

“Last year was great. We had a lot of volunteers and people coming forward to help out. There was a lot of love that day,” she said.

“My goal is still to help 100 people. There will always be someone out there in need, and I will do what is in my power to help.

“They are always so grateful. They look forward to it every year.”

Mrs Peniston is calling for members of the public to contribute to the event. Contact her on 703-0976, e-mail regina.peniston1@hotmail.com or visit her Facebook page.
