A community group has organised a get-together to discuss Bermuda’s social problems.

Sharon Apopa of the Twin Ministries is calling for people to attend “A Nation Under Siege: The Impact of Pain on Social Constructs” at Evening Light Pentecostal Church on March 17, at 7pm.

Facilitators include activist Gina Spence and statistician Cordell Riley; keynote speaker is pastor Hollis Neal.

In a press release, Dr Apopa said attendees will be challenged to identify 30, 60 or 90-day quick wins that can shift the island from a position of pain to a position of healing.

“There are under tones of a community positioned for an explosion if we do not address the issues of pain in our community,” she stated.

“This call to action is designed to generate short-term outcomes that facilitate revitalisation of existing agendas that have become dormant.”

Quoting Irish parliamentarian Edmund Burke, she said: “The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing”.
