The Bermuda National Athletics Association has received a $25,000 donation from the Government ahead of the Carifta Games in Curaçao this weekend.

The grant was part of the Cash Back for Communities programme and will help the athletes’ expenses for their trip to the Caribbean.

Senator Jeff Baron, the Minister of National Security, and Nandi Outerbridge, the Minister of Social Development and Sport, presented the cheque to BNAA president Donna Raynor.

In making the presentation today, both ministers commended the team for their dedication and wished them success as they represent Bermuda at the Games.

“The public will be aware that the BNAA announced its 2017 Carifta team late last month, with 20 athletes set to represent the island,” said a Government spokesperson. “As an added note, recently, the Carifta team was also acknowledged by Premier Michael Dunkley who hosted the youngsters at a Camden reception earlier this month.”
