Giant leap for island’s health

Small steps grew into a leap for the island’s health in the Billion Steps Challenge — and now another call to move is planned for this summer.

Results came in last week showing Bermuda had surpassed its goal in the challenge, logging 2.2 billion treads by the end of Public Health Week on April 9. And the Move-a-thon held on Friday also more than doubled its target goal of 200,000 steps — tallying 442,200.

This placed the team Move More Bermuda at 64 out of 696 teams with a score of 34,395,046 steps.

Another steps challenge is set to run from June 27 to September 27, the Department of Health announced, which will run as a parish competition with a goal of 75 million steps.
