BPSU holds anniversary gala banquet
The Bermuda Public Services Union this weekend celebrated its 65th anniversary with a gala evening at the Fairmont Southampton.
Hosted by David Minors and Linda Mienzer, the event featured performances by a host of groups including the Berkeley Institute Dance Team, Olivia Hamilton, the Dellwood Middle School M3 Drama Team and the Chewstick Foundation,
Guests were also treated to a summary of the union’s long history on the island and a special tribute to former BPSU president Edward Ball Jr, who now serves as the union’s general secretary.
Mr Ball was honoured with the 65th Anniversary President’s Award for his contributions and commitment to the union and its members for the last 37 years.
Jason Hayward, BPSU president, said: “The night was a resounding success, it was my honour to present Brother Ed Ball Jr with his award. He has demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to the BPSU and its members. “He has been a leader and a mentor and his legacy will be enshrined in the history of the BPSU.”
Representatives from both political parties were in attendance to celebrate the BPSU’s anniversary, along with former BPSU presidents, presidents and executives of the island’s trade unions and worker associations, employer groups and BPSU members.
