A motorcyclist injured in a crash involving a police car yesterday afternoon is “critical but stable” in hospital, police said this morning.

The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old Smith’s man, was injured after an unmarked police car and a bike were in collision at the junction of North Shore Road and My Lord’s Bay Road in Hamilton Parish at around 2.30pm.

Police added: “The injured police officer, who was driving the car involved, was also treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital but later discharged.”

A spokesman added both vehicles involved in the collision have been impounded and CCTV footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation.

The crash caused traffic to be diverted from the area for approximately two hours.
