Drunk driver banned from the road
A Sandys man was taken off the road this morning for drinking and driving.
Corey Sousa, 22, admitted driving along Crow Lane while impaired by alcohol on August 26.
Police stopped Sousa at 3.30am after watching him swerve across the road and brake suddenly for no apparent reason.
He admitted drinking several beers before riding, and agreed to provide police with a breath sample.
A breath test showed that he had 211 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood — more than 2.5 times the legal limit of 80 milligrams.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Sousa $1,200 and banned him from the roads for 18 months.
