US experts to lead talks on entrepreneurship

US entrepreneurship experts are coming to the island next week as part of Bermuda’s Global Entrepreneurship Week event.

The US Consulate has invited Monica Dodi and Buzzy Thibodeaux to take part in several events, sponsored by the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and Butterfield Bank.

Mr Thibodeaux, the executive vice-president of Junior Achievement US, will be the guest speaker at the BEDC’s Entrepreneurship Education Awards on November 14.

Throughout the week he will also visit middle and high schools to talk about entrepreneurship education and take part in a panel discussion at Bermuda College.

Ms Didi, a new-media entrepreneur, will participate in a breakfast workshop at HSBC Harbourview on November 17 to mark Women’s Entrepreneurship Day.

She will also take part in a lunchtime seminar for invited guests and meet with members of several non-government organisations to offer her experience.

Both Ms Didi and Mr Thibodeaux will participate as guest judges during the annual Rocket Pitch Competition- an event where local entrepreneurs will pitch creative business ideas to win a package of cash and services provided by BEDC — on November 16 at XL Catlin.

The speakers were invited to the island by the US State Department’s Speaker Program, which helps to bring US experts to other countries to present lectures and conduct workshops.
