Hear ye, hear ye, let’s go shopping
Hamilton’s charismatic Town Crier is to include a number of shopping stops on some of his city tours as part of a new partnership with the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
Ed Christopher, below, will take visitors on a 2½-hour tour across the city every Thursday as part of the BTA’s Shopping Tour Experience. The aim is to expose travellers to unique Bermuda items in shops such as TABS, Davidrose Jewellery, Della Valle Sandals, Alexandra Mosher Studio Jewellery and Lili Bermuda.
BTA’s Pat Phillip-Fairn said: “Bermuda’s visitors are spending less on retail than in years past and we see this as an opportunity. We hope visitors make Bermuda-inspired discoveries and those inspire purchases.
“Our objective right now is to get word out about the tour.
“We encourage hoteliers and vacation rental owners to make sure their guests know about this new option, listed on our website.”
Shoppers will be given treats from shopkeepers along the tour.
Mr Christopher said: “I like to call the shopping tour the triangle of tours because it brings together entrepreneurs, hospitality and I add a little Bermuda history. It’s been a welcomed addition to the experience of Hamilton and I hope to see it grow and expand.”
The Stour pilot will run every Thursday until October, departing from the Queen Street entrance of Queen Elizabeth Park.
