Police officer arrested on suspected bribery

A police officer was arrested in connection with alleged bribery offences yesterday.
Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Martin Weekes said the 33-year-old constable, from Smith’s, was taken into custody by police officers from the Organised, Economic Crime Department “on suspicion of offences under the Bribery Act 2016”.
Mr Weekes added: “An investigation has commenced and further inquiries will follow.
“The Bermuda Police Service wishes to make it clear that it takes any allegation of bribery and corruption among its officers and staff extremely seriously and that all allegations will be thoroughly investigated and dealt with according to law.”
