Two charities each received $6,000 from the International Women's Club of Bermuda, thanks to an art show and Christmas card sale.

Tomorrow's Voices, Bermuda Autism Early Intervention Centre and the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art welcomed the donations last week.

The two organisations were chosen by the IWC to benefit from its fundraising in 2018-19.

Louise Foden-Pattinson, the club's philanthropy chairwoman, said earlier that the charities “play a vital role” within the island.

The IWC held its annual art auction on International Women's Day in March and the exhibits included work by young people linked to Tomorrow's Voices, which provides behavioural interventions for children with autism and other developmental delays.

Tom Butterfield, the Masterworks founder and creative director, was the auctioneer on the night.

Ms Foden-Pattinson said the club was “delighted” to hand over money raised from the art show, as well as through the sale of Christmas cards, at a President's coffee event at Harrington Sound on June 12.

She added: “Tomorrow's Voices will use the money to go towards improving the quality of life for persons with autism and Masterworks offers summer camps that encourage learning about art alongside Bermuda's history and culture.”
