Representation of people with Italian roots is a family affair in Bermuda.

For the job of Honorary Consul of Italy in Bermuda has gone from veteran restaurateur Jackie Di Meglio, who stood down aged 70, to his daughter, Sabrina.

Ms Di Meglio said: “When you turn 70, you have to retire, so because I helped my dad, I decided to apply for the position.”

Ms Di Meglio said: “I’m really looking forward to the job. It’s a great honour and I want to help as many people in the community as possible.”

The 35-year-old human resources manager at the Elbow Beach Hotel in Paget had to submit a CV and references and go through a rigorous selection process to be considered for the job.
