Steede still in the frame
Medium pacer Ryan Steede has not been omitted from the champions? Cup Match plans this year, St.George?s Cricket Club chairman of selectors Ritchie Foggo confirmed yesterday.
Steede, a member of St.George?s? victorious team last summer, was not included in the list of players named for the champions? final trial match at Wellington Oval tomorrow, creating speculation he had been overlooked for selection this year.
St.George?s? officials named 22 players for tomorrow?s trial after a lengthy meeting at the East End club following a practice session on Tuesday night.
Foggo told yesterday: ?Ryan (Steede) is not going to play in the final trial match because he is not going to be on the Island. However, he did inform the club that he would be available to play in Cup Match.?
National team cricketer Steede is currently playing in the UK at Atherstone CC, and is due to return to the Island before next week?s classic, along with Somerset fast bowler Kevin Hurdle.
Hurdle has also been playing in the UK over the past several weeks at Folkestone CC in Kent.
Both players remained in the UK at the conclusion of Bermuda?s tour of England and Guernsey last June.
