Elizabeth Simons, after suffering through a one-win seven-loss streak, saw her fortunes change for the better as she recorded a clean sweep of four wins

The victories allowed Simons to move from fifth to fourth in the standings with a record of 5-7, with three weeks of play remaining.

Also enjoying a solid outing was Jean Clark, who is tied for the leadership with Brenda Hutton, both at 8-4.

Terry Cartwright (7-5) is third followed by Simons, while Ruth Holder props up the field with a 2-10 record. The top two women at the end of the series qualify for the World Cup in Basle, Switzerland which takes place October 5, 6 and 7.

Meanwhile, on the men's side Greg McQueen and Jimmy Pratt lead the way with identical 5-3 records followed by Steve Hayward and Vernon Daniels (4-4) and Robert Davies (2-6).

The leading four men gain automatic entry into the team.

Ron Padilla provided B&S with batting punch by going three-for-three while Phil Huxley and Andy Yonda also had three-hit nights for the losers. The series is now tied 2-2.

PTB edged Warwick 21-19 with Shawn Tucker and John Ray each providing three hits while Deon Bell and Antonio Clarke had two apiece for the losers. Tucker was the winning pitcher and Keith DeCosta the loser. PTB lead the series 2-1.

Snowballs beat Gateway 10-4 behind Braxton Stowe and Blake Fizzard who combined for five hits. They also each struck two home runs. Rob Mason and Bruce Fenton both went two-for-three for the losers.

Mario Valcourt was the winning pitcher and Mark Kaplin the loser. Snowballs lead the series 2-1.

Registration has started for the Bermuda Amateur Softball Association Summer League and will continue until April 17. Late registration, however, will be accepted until April 24, with the season scheduled to commence on May 1.

Registration forms can be collected from the office at Bernard Park.

TABLE TENNIS PP Bermuda Table Tennis Association's Open Championships, originally scheduled for tomorrow, have been postponed due to the Elliott School Fair taking place.

A new date has been set for Saturday, April 15 at the same venue.

Entry fee has been reduced to $5 and registration forms are available at International Sports Shop, Sportsmen's Shop, The Pro Shop and Sports `R' Us.

The entry deadline is 4 p.m. next Wednesday.

BOWLING BOW Buy & Sell ended a string of poor results in the Barritt's Sportsmen's League as they whipped Warwick Reds 221 -41 in latest action.

The victory allowed B&S to increase keep their league lead after they had come close to surrendering the leadership in recent weeks.

Keeping up the pressure were Pembroke Juniors, who similarly bowled over Warwick Whites 22-5, despite the efforts of Whites' Harry Bean who recorded the fourth high individual series (552) and game (217).

In other matches third placed Sparks defeated Social Club 17-10, while Mini Forwarders ousted Young Blood 14-13.

TENNIS TEN Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) will hold their annual general meeting on Wednesday, April 12 at the BLTA office on Burnaby Street, starting at 5.30 p.m.

Election of officers will take place at that time.

All are invited to the BLTA Winter League prize presentation ceremony and dinner at Belmont Golf Club on April 15, starting at 6.30 p.m.

TARGET SHOOTING SHO Eugene Robinson was the leading marksman during Wednesday night's shoot-out at Coral Reefs Rifle and Pistol Club. Robinson emerged with a top score of 192 out of 200 to edge Carl Reid by two points.

Meanwhile, Sinclair Rayner was named shooter of the month for his performances in March.

BOXING BOX St. George's Cricket Club are promoting another amateur boxing card on May 13 at Wellington Oval, starting at 8 p.m.
