Goal-happy Zebras bounce back into the First Division
PHC clinched promotion back to the First Division at the first attempt, after this victory over second-placed St. David's coupled with defeat by third-placed Somerset Eagles enabled them to extend their lead at the top.
Four goals came in the last 20 minutes after the top two teams had been separated only by Stephen Astwood's goal for the Zebras in the 16th minute.
Desmond Burgess added another in the 75th minute before Astwood struck his second of the day soon after.
Bermuda international Kenny Mills finished the scoring for the Zebras while Lionel Cann netted the lone goal for St. David's in the 68th minute from the penalty spot.
The win leaves PHC 10 points ahead of St. David's in the standings and 13 in front of Eagles and Prospect which means that, with four games remaining, the most Eagles and Prospect can finish with is 26, one less than PHC's present points total.
St. David's, Eagles, Prospect and Social Club will now battle for the second promotion spot.
YMSC 1 Somerset Eagles 0 Social Club warmed up for their FA Cup quarter-final against North Village next week by snatching victory over Eagles through Raymond Burgess' fifth league goal of the season.
But they enjoyed two pieces of remarkably good fortune in the final minute to take the three points which revived their promotion hopes.
First referee Lawrence DeShields blew for a penalty an instant before Eagles netted what would have been the equaliser, then Jelani Butterfield blasted the resulting spot-kick high over the bar.
Butterfield thought he would try to confuse the Social Club goalkeeper by approaching the ball from one side and then switching to the other, but he only succeeded in getting himself in a tangle.
Burgess had struck nine minutes after the break with a superb, power-packed header.
Prospect 4 St. George's 2 St. George's blew a 2-1 lead late in the game at Police Field as home team Prospect netted three times in six minutes to romp to a comfortable win.
Andrew Rollins pulled Prospect level in the 79th minute when he converted from close range after a goalkeeping error. One minute later Lawrence Smith netted his second goal of the game when he got on the end of a free kick by Dwayne Leverock to make it 3-2.
Rollins then put the game out of the reach of St. George's in the 85th minute with his second goal.
Smith had fired Prospect into the lead in the 23rd minute before Neil Paynter equalised for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. Youssef Pitt gave the east enders the lead in the 35th minute.
Paget 1 Ireland Rangers 3 Bottom team Ireland Rangers picked up their third win of the season at White Hill Field.
Sean Simons netted twice for the west enders and Duane DeRosa the other from the penalty spot as Rangers never looked back after taking a 2-0 lead at the half.
The result forces a three-way tie for last place with Paget and St. George's.
