Goater on loan to notts county
seasons for when he was signed on a one-month loan to Notts County of the English First Division.
His debut on Saturday took on fairytale proportion even, as he set up the opening goal after only five minutes. But promotion contenders Charlton spoiled things in running away with a 5-1 victory.
Goater is looking ahead to helping injury-riddled Notts County improve on their 17th-place position in the 24-team First Division.
"My boss gave me a call at home to say they (Notts County) wanted me and I said yes,'' Goater said of the move. "I travelled there on Friday, had a one-hour session and played the whole game on Saturday. It was not the best of games to start with.'' Despite the loss to Charlton, who took over the First Division leadership on the weekend because Stoke defeated Leicester 1-0 yesterday, Goater is optimistic.
"I think I'll do well there. I accept that the reason I am there is because of so many injuries they have. But the boss (Mick Walker) said he'd have a look at me. Out of the four people who are injured, two are strikers.'' The benefits of being at Notts County are already paying off as Goater will fly to Italy tomorrow to play against Brescia in the Anglo-Italian Cup.
