Parish punished

If Hamilton Parish thought things couldn't get any worse, they were in for a surprise at BAA Field on Saturday night.

Outplayed by Vasco in every department, Parish crashed to their sixth straight loss.

Goal-hungry Sinclair Gibbons scored two to add to his hat-trick against North Village a week earlier, while Dennis Robinson and Larance Durham completed the rout.

Parish started confidently and applied some pressure in the first five minutes. Irving Burgess might have opened their account had he been able to get the ball under control from just six yards out in the 20th minute.

And Jermaine Belboda released a wicked free kick from 25 yards after Kuma Smith was brought down, but Timmy Figureido was equal to the challenge.

However, Vasco slowly took control and went ahead in the 40th minute when Robinson latched onto a loose ball six yards out and fired it home after goalkeeper Cymande Davis had failed to hold a free kick.

They added a second seven minutes after the break when Gibbons skillfully beat Parish's last two men before slotting past the advancing Davis.

And just five minutes later in the 57th, Gibbons gratefully accepted a another mishandled ball from Davis to tap it in from practically on the goal-line.

Parish's defence had looked shaky all night and it didn't get any better as Durham dribbled straight through the middle to drive a low, hard shot past the keeper for goal number four.

Parish had a last chance to score in the 77th minute when an open goal stared Alvin Baker in the face but he misjudged the bounce of the ball and failed to convert.
