PHC booted out of final
Counties Cup final at White Hill Field against Warwick -- at the expense of PHC.
At a special meeting on Wednesday night, PHC were tossed out of the competition after the Counties ruled that they had used an ineligible player, James Pace, in the third round on August 21.
PHC had scored a stunning four-wicket victory over champions Southampton before a Rangers protest (against the use of an ineligible player) was rejected a few days later.
However, since then Rangers, believing that the constitution strongly supported their claim, threatened to take out a court injunction -- a move which prompted the Counties to take another look at the matter.
And on Wednesday the committee, in meeting with officials from both clubs, reversed their earlier decision which will now see Southampton in the final.
Victory would enable Rangers to advance to the prestigious Champion of Champions competition on September 18-19.
