Roses, Terceira are thorns in side of frustrated Grays

Action in the Sunkist Small Fry and Little Dribbler basketball leagues continues to be fast and furious as the season winds to a close.

Saturday saw a number of games being contested at Whitney Institute.

In opening action Rambling Roses shot their way to a 39-14 triumph over Grays, as Teddy Terceira poured in 16 points to lead the way for the victors.

Others getting in the scoring column for Roses were Jabari Furbert (11 points), Travis Tucker (eight) and Michael Farrington (four).

Meanwhile, Christopher Fletcher replied with 10 points for Grays, who also had Chris Andrew and Kenton Trott record tallies.

The high scoring carried over to game two as Tyler Owen of Sunkist Orange exploded for 12 points in his side's 28-14 win over Sunkist Men of Teal, who were led by Blake Raynor's eight points and four from Mark Godwin.

Next up was an exhibition match featuring Small Fry Light Blues and Little Dribblers White, which resulted in Blues winning 34-25.

Regular play continued with Little Dribblers Green defeating Powder Blue, but needing overtime and a winning basket by Khalid Pitcher to do so.

The final match-up witnessed Aqua snatch a close 28-27 win over Black in a tense clash.

Blacks led for the better part of the encounter, but Aqua, showing great internal fortitude, kept in the hunt, before exploding in the fourth quarter to seize the victory.

SOCCER SOC The following are schedule changes for tomorrow's mini-minor Knock-out Cup matches: PHC Kids v BAA Knights (Gym field 10.00); Southampton v BAA Kids (Gym field 11.15).

Local soccer fans are reminded that Bermuda's three round robin Group B matches in the Pan Am Games in Argentina can be seen live on local television, starting tonight at 9.00 when Bermuda plays its first match against Chile.

Bermuda plays their other two group matches on Monday against Brazil and Wednesday against Costa Rica, both starting at 7 p.m. Bermuda time and seen live on ZFB TV-7/Cable 2.
